Rev. Manning brings a wealth of gifts and experiences to this ministry. A graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, he was ordained in the PC(USA) in 2022 and most recently served as the Minister for Pastoral Care at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church in McLean. He also completed a two-year pastoral residency at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas, where he led children, youth, and family ministries, preached regularly, offered pastoral care, and guided mission and small group programs. Prior to seminary, Peter trained as a hospital chaplain at New York Presbyterian, serving extensively in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Beyond his professional ministry, Rev. Manning has decades of lay leadership experience, especially in youth ministry, having nurtured vibrant programs and even shepherded a beloved Christmas pageant for fifteen years. His path to ordained ministry has been rich and varied, including earlier work in theater, business, and design—experiences that bring creativity, vision, and a collaborative spirit to his call.
Peter lives in Alexandria with his husband, Garth, a seminarian at Virginia Theological Seminary, and is the proud father of a daughter, a former Marine officer and skydiving instructor.
We are excited to welcome Rev. Manning into our church family and look forward to the many ways God will work through him in our shared ministry. Please join us in praying for him as he begins this new chapter with us, and come greet him warmly on his first Sunday, October 12.
