Children's Ministry Banner

Welcome to First Presbyterian Church. Our congregation is active and growing, with many opportunities for families to worship, serve, pray, and play together. Please join us!

At First Presbyterian, we partner with families to guide and nurture children and youth, providing plenty of ways to encourage kids to know and follow Jesus Christ and be faithful members of his church.

Nursery Care (Babies & Toddlers)

Children of all ages are always welcome in worship services. Childcare is also available in our cheery Nursery, Room 101 where children are supervised by our professional caregivers. We provide parents and guardians with silent pagers by which you can be contacted during the worship service if your child needs your attention.

Sunday School

Sunday school classes are from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. each Sunday, unless specified otherwise, during the school year (September through May).

  • Children's Sunday School
    • Children 4 years old through 5th grade meet upstairs. From 10-10:45, children meet in their respective (Pre-k and Kindergarten, 1-2nd Grade, 3-5th Grade) classrooms.
    • We use Whirl! Lectionary curriculum and materials to guide our explorations of Bible stories. The children read from age-appropriate Bibles and interact with the stories through games, discussions, crafts, and prayer. This curriculum follows the lectionary, which is also preached on during worship.
  • Middle School Sunday School
    • Youth in grades 6th-8th
    • 9:45-10:45 a.m. – Room 201
    • Middle schoolers are on a three year rotational model in which they spend a year each on Church History, Old Testament, and New Testament. Questions? Contact Cali at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Childrens ChoirMusic Ministry

  • Children's Choir
    • Children age 3 and older
    • 9:30-10:00 a.m. – Room 209
    • Come celebrate God's love through singing, playing instruments, and experimenting with other forms of musical play.
    • Those children who wish to participate can sing for worship services several times a year and in our annual Christmas musical. Children's Choir meets each Sunday morning during the school year. Worship Opportunities for Kids

  • Worship Bags
    • During both services, children can pick up coloring pages or Worship Bags with children's bulletins. Both are based on the Revised Common Lectionary scripture of the day.
  • Children's Sermon
    • During the 11 a.m. service, children are invited to come forward for a special lesson during the Children's Sermon with Ms. Cali.
  • Bridges to Worship
    • After the children's sermon, those children ages preschool through first grade may join Ms.Cali for Bridges to Worship. This program connects picture books to the days scripture reading. We then collect an "offering", a time when children decide what they would like to offer people in their lives to make them smile. We end with a craft, a game, or enjoy other books before returning to worship in time for the final hymn.

Church-Wide Events

Many church-wide events include a special focus for children. Children regularly provide leadership for special services at Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and summer worship, as well as serviving as liturgists throughout the year. Children are always welcome and encouraged to attend outreach, mission, and fellowship events as well. Questions about how to get your child involved?
