  The Mission of First Presbyterian Church is to:

    INVITE the world into the church to seek and worship God, be formed
    in faith, and be nurtured by the congregation;
    EMPOWER the people to live God's love through Jesus Christ; and
    EMBODY God's grace in deeds of justice and compassion.

A church is not only about a set of programs or a building to house them. A church maintains ministries in the moment and yet looks constantly to the future, to see where God is leading and challenging us to go and who God would have us be.

The First Presbyterian Church Long Range Planning and Discernment Team helps the church identify and embrace this Spirit-inspired, transformative, vibrant ministry that looks to the future with hope and energy. The Team has a three-fold responsibility:

1. To seek ways to reach out to the communities that surround the church, where people who are young and old, affluent and poor, Anglo and Latino and Asian and African-American, straight and gay, settled and transient, live and work and have their being;

2. To identify ways the church can more effectively use the grounds on which we are located to serve God and our community; and

3. To discern how we can talk and listen together in honest, caring and respectful dialogue about controversial issues that are crucial to our church and society, always seeking to maintain the bond of unity as people of faith.

Join us in the exciting adventure of an active, growing faith at First Presbyterian!
