Understanding the Bible: The New Testament from Scratch
Led by Rev. Charlotte Lohrenz, Marty Orth, and Donna Weddle
U2 Can Change the World (you, too!)
Led by Jennifer Swanson

What's with the Word of God, anyway? Why are there four gospels? What's unique about Matthew's telling, as opposed to Luke? What's an epistle and why are they in the Bible? If you've wondered such questions this class is the place for you! We'll begin by reviewing some bible study basics--how to use a concordance, why have an atlas, where to find commentaries. And then move swiftly through the books of the New Testament. This class is, also, an excellent refresher for those who have grown up with or into scripture, helping us recall its broader design and purpose.

As a follow-up to her very popular Sunday School class in 2006, Jennifer Swanson is going to lead a second study of U2. Throughout the 4-week course, we will study some of the scriptures on which their popular songs are based, review how the band's faith has inspired their music and work, and think about our own call to seek justice in the world. The class promises to be lively and thought-provoking whether you love U2 or have never heard of U2!
